Weddings
Pre-Marital Covenant
LifePoint Church believes that marriage is a sacred gift from God, and it is our desire that couples honor God in their approach to marriage. For this reason, the elders and pastor of the church reserve the right to decline officiating a wedding unless the couple agrees with the following biblical guidelines of the "Pre-Marital Covenant."
1. A Covenant of Unity
The Bible teaches that Christians are to marry Christians otherwise there will be a lack of unity bringing future troubles when only one person in the marriage wants to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. For this reason, we require that both bride and groom individually come to an understanding and acceptance of Christ's sacrificial death (2 Cor. 6:14-16; Eph. 2:8,9).
2. A Covenant of Purity
The Bible teaches that the sexual relationship is an intimacy designed and intended for marriage only; therefore we ask that you agree to abstain from any sexual relationship until after your wedding ceremony. If you are living together as a couple we ask that you agree to separate living arrangements until after the wedding in obedience to God (Heb. 13:4, 1 Thess. 4:3-8).
3. A Covenant of Faithfulness
The Bible teaches that the best example of faithfulness is Christ’s commitment and love for the church, His bride. The best way for a couple to grow in their marriage is to find a church to belong to and be involved in. We ask that you commit to attend worship services regularly and find a place of involvement at LifePoint Church, a part of the Body of Christ, and pursue a lifestyle of faithfulness (Eph. 5:25-27, Heb. 10:19-25).
