What We Believe...Every member of LifePoint subscribes to these beliefs…GOD – There is only ONE true and living God. He was not created, but is the Creator of all things by the power of His spoken Word. He is holy and perfect in every way. He exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. JESUS – He is the Son of the Living God. He is co-equal with the Father. He was born of a virgin conceived by the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross offering himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins, rose from the grave conquering sin and death forever. He is returning soon to receive His church and rule and reign forever. HOLY SPIRIT – He is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. His work is to provide every believer power for living, understanding of the Bible, a spiritual gift to every believer to serve others, and to guide believers to do what is right.
The BIBLE – Is the written spoken Word of God to all men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It has no errors or contradictions. It is the only authority for the beliefs and practices of the church and all believers. MAN (Human Beings) – All of us were created in the image of God to be like him in character. By nature man is disobedient, rebellious, and sinful. Therefore, every man is in need of a Savior to offer him grace, forgive his sins, and rescue him from the danger of eternal punishment. SALVATION – It is the free gift of God than cannot be earned or deserved. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The free gift comes as a result of Jesus dying on a cross for our sins. BAPTISM – It is a Biblical ordinance for all those who repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism by immersion in water is a symbol of forgiveness of sin, a new birth, death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, a new life, and salvation. LORD'S SUPPER (Communion) – It is a Biblical ordinance given to all believers to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. The believer eats the bread and drinks a cup of grape juice to symbolize the body and the blood of Jesus Christ. The Lord's Supper is not a means of salvation, but an act of the believer’s faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross. The CHURCH – It is the body of Christ on earth. It exists to communicate to the world the Good News of the New Life in Jesus Christ, to baptize those who believe, to teach his followers to obey his teachings, and equip his followers to serve others. "There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." - Ephesians 4:4-6 |
