About UsLifePoint is composed of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. All members have made a public confession of Christ as their personal Lord and Savior through baptism by immersion. Members also believe the Bible to be the sole source of faith, and have determined to build their lives on its Truth, believing that it renews thinking and changes hearts, attitudes, and motives.
Each member subscribes to the belief that Jesus Christ is the only true Savior. He is the Lord of Life, and the only way a person can have eternal life is by God's grace through faith and repentance. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. - Ephesians 2:8,9
All members understand the purpose of the church is to equip people for acts of service to build up the Body of Christ and express God's grace to others. This occurs through the teaching and preaching of the Word of God and providing opportunities for people to serve.
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up... - Ephesians 4:11,12
Our StoryLifePoint Church, formerly Southside Church of Christ, originally met at South Congress just south of the Texas State Capitol. After 68 years at that location, the church sold its property in 2007 in order to build closer to target ministry areas. The church moved its worship location to the Wyndham Hotel while waiting for God to lead it to the right location. In late 2007, the church acquired 10 acres at the corner of FM 1626 and Old San Antonio Road, just south of Akins High School, and embarked on the first phase of a building project. The first phase is a 6,200 square foot multi-purpose building useful for worship, children's ministry and recreation. It also will be open to the community for approved miscellaneous events. This building opened in the Fall of 2009. In early 2009 the church re-organized itself to clearly define its mission, vision, and core values. God made it clear that the vision was "to influence people who are far away from God and point their lives to Jesus." It became clear to the leadership that the church name should reflect its mission. In July 2009 the name of the church was changed to LifePoint Church.
